The YMA dress, featuring a charming bodice inspired by a bustier, wide straps, and a slit skirt, promises a majestic and subtly sensual look. The height of the slit is adjustable. Its back is beautifully scooped. I wanted to create a stunning dress that is elegant, with flattering lines, and easy to wear.
Four cup depths
To ensure as many people as possible can sew the YMA dress to their measurements, four cup depths are offered for each size, ranging from 34 to 48. The detailed measurements are provided below. Creating a muslin of the bodice will be essential for making any necessary adjustments to the cup.
Step-by-step guidance
In addition to the booklet, you will have access to a tutorial video designed as a comprehensive sewing class. The purchase includes the PDF pattern in A4/US Letter and A0 format + a fully illustrated booklet + the video tutorial. The booklet also includes a guide for creating the bodice muslin and making adjustments.

The specifics of the YMA dress sewing pattern
Design and style
YMA is a long, sleeveless dress with wide straps. Its bodice is distinguished by its bustier style and a low back cutout. The skirt consists of several panels and features a slit at the front. You can, if you wish, position the slit at the back, on the sides, or adjust the height of the slit according to your preferences. The dress is fastened with an invisible zipper on the left side.
I wanted to create a ‘wow’ dress, elegant with flattering lines and easy to wear. I find bustiers incredibly feminine but too tight. So, I envisioned this bodice that shapes beautifully without feeling constricting, featuring elegant lines. The neckline is both sexy and modest. And this daring slit that reveals the leg 😍 With the YMA dress, you’ll never go unnoticed!
Prefer a shorter skirt? More flared ? The booklet includes instructions to help you adjust the skirt to your liking.
Sewing techniques
Level: Intermediate. You have already completed sewing projects and are confident in making adjustments independently. Indeed, the bodice is designed to fit snugly and contour to your bust. For this pattern, it is essential to create a muslin to identify any adjustments needed for your body shape. The instructions are detailed and explained step by step. A step by step video tutorial is available.
Each technique is not difficult in itself. I break down the project into accessible steps, either through the illustrations or the video course. So if you want to get started, you are in the right place.

Sizes and measurements of the final garment
Size chart
The pattern is drafted for a height of 168 cm / 5’6’’.
If your measurements fall between multiple sizes (which is quite common), you can blend these sizes. Everything is explained in the booklet.
Measurements of the finished garment
- The measurement of the finished garment allow you to choose your size according to your preference (with more or less ease). Feel free to compare with another garment in your wardrobe.
- My bust measurement is 88 cm, and I chose depth 2, size 38 for the samples (I don't wear any bra) The sewn bodice measures 86.6 cm (ease -1.4 cm). I achieve a sculpted effect, but with the open back, my chest isn't pressed flat either.
