I am Monty, the founder of Ose Patterns.<\/p>\n
I have always had feelings of unworthiness and lack of self-esteem. I felt these feelings inside but I also wore them on the outside. My clothes were a way for me to hide.<\/p>\n
Learning to sew helped me to open up. I realized that I was capable of doing amazing things. I learned to believe in myself.<\/p>\n
Now, I want to go further by being bolder in other areas of my life. I wanted sewing to be at the core of my entrepreneurial project. That is how Ose Patterns was born. To me, Ose Patterns means :<\/p>\n

Sewing was a hobby. At that time I was working in a consulting firm.<\/p>\n Very quickly, I became passionate about the infinite possibilities provided by the architecture of a garment. I discovered indie sewing pattern designers and an enthusiastic community of sewers.<\/p>\n After the Paris attacks in 2015 I questioned my job and the life I was living. I allowed myself to dream. While still working by day, I would study by night, learning about sewing and patternmaking by myself or at evening classes.<\/p>\n I applied to several fashion schools and \u201cmaisons de mode\u201d. In 2016, I entered the \u201cInstitut Fran\u00e7ais de la Mode\u201d (IFM<\/a><\/strong>) to learn draping and patternmaking. I worked in a French \u201cmaison de mode\u201d as a patternmaker assistant to learn alongside professionals. I graduated in 2018 after two enriching and intense years.<\/p>\n After graduation, I still hesitated, weighing the pros and the cons. I doubted. Every single day. But I took that step and dared.<\/p>\n In 2020, I created Ose Patterns. I talk about my journey (in French) as a new entrepreneur in the podcast \u201cOse Toujours<\/a><\/strong>\u201d which means \u201cDare, always\u201d. La couture est une parenth\u00e8se dans mon travail de consultante. Rapidement, je me passionne pour l\u2019architecture du v\u00eatement et ses possibilit\u00e9s infinies. Je d\u00e9couvre le monde des cr\u00e9ateurs de patrons ind\u00e9pendants et une communaut\u00e9 enthousiaste.<\/span>\n\nLes attaques de Paris de 2015 me touchent profond\u00e9ment. C\u2019est \u00e0 ce moment que je m\u2019autorise \u00e0 r\u00eaver. En parall\u00e8le de mon travail, je progresse en autodidacte et au rythme des cours de soir que je suis \u00e0 la Mairie de Paris. Je postule dans des \u00e9coles de mode et dans des maisons. Mes efforts portent leurs fruits. J\u2019int\u00e8gre en 2016 l'Institut Fran\u00e7ais de la Mode (IFM) pour apprendre le mod\u00e9lisme et le moulage. Je travaille \u00e9galement dans une maison comme assistante mod\u00e9liste et me forme aupr\u00e8s de professionnels passionn\u00e9s. Apr\u00e8s deux ann\u00e9es enrichissantes et intenses, j'obtiens mon dipl\u00f4me de toiliste mod\u00e9liste et patronni\u00e8re LECTRA.<\/span>\n\nUne fois le dipl\u00f4me en poche, je continue de peser les pour et les contre. J\u2019h\u00e9site \u00e0 me lancer. Je doute. Tous les jours. Mais j\u2019ose.<\/span>\n En 2020, je lance Ose Patterns. Je raconte mes aventures entrepreneuriales dans le podcast Ose Toujours<\/a><\/strong>.
